Tashkent International Airport is Uzbekistan’s main international airport, 12 km (7.5 miles) from Tashkent city centre. It is the third busiest airport in Central Asia, after Almaty International Airport and Astana International Airport.
Tashkent International Airport includes two terminals: Terminal 2 accepts international flights, and Terminal 3 accepts domestic flights. Terminal 2 was rebuilt in 2001 and is currently undergoing renovation. The airport has a capacity of 1,000 passengers per hour and more than 2 million passengers per year. Other facilities include lounges, CIP and VIP lounges, restaurants and bars, currency exchange offices, duty-free shops, airline ticket offices and sales offices, and a 24-hour pharmacy.
The terminal 3 of Tashkent International Airport was opened in 2011, and the Uzbek government plans to relocate Tashkent Airport to a new location by 2030.
