Middle East Airlines (MEA) is the flagship airline of Lebanon, headquartered in Beirut. The airline mainly operates regular international flights to Asia, Europe and Africa at Rafic Hariri International Airport.

Middle East Airlines is a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance, and a member of the Arab Air Transport Organization and the International Air Transport Association. On February 28, 2011, the multilateral environmental agreement formally signed the SkyTeam alliance cooperation agreement in Beirut. On June 28, 2012, the airline officially joined the SkyTeam alliance, becoming the 17th member and the second airline in the Middle East to join the alliance.

Middle East Airlines was established by Saeb Salam on May 31, 1945, and British Overseas Airways provided operations and technical support. On January 1, 1946, the airline began operating flights between Beirut and Nicosia using three de Havilland DH.89A Dragon Rapides aircraft, and subsequently opened flights to Iraq, Egypt and Syria. In mid 1946, it received two Douglas DC-3 aircraft. In September 1949, Pan American Airlines acquired its shares and managed the contract.

The main hub of Middle East Airlines is Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, and its subsidiaries include: Middle East Airlines Ground Handling, Middle East Airport Services, and Middle East Aviation Services Corporation. The company has a total of 17 aircrafts and 33 destinations. The company slogan is ‘Fly from Lebanon to the rest of the world’. The parent company is the Bank of Lebanon, and the chairman and director-general is Mohamed El-Hout. The net profit in 2009 was US$100 million. .
