The bank was established in 2005 as part of the privatization of the Iranian government’s banking system. Its shares are listed and traded on the Iranian Farah Exchange. In 2006, it had initial equity capital of US$365.1 million.
Currently, Sarmayeh Bank operates 153 branches throughout Iran. In 2008, it opened several overseas branches in the Netherlands, UAE and Tajikistan.
As a private bank in Iran, Sarmayeh Bank provides short-term and fixed deposit accounts for domestic and overseas customers. It also provides financial consulting, loans, national debt, currency exchange, corporate loan syndication and electronic banking services.
Sarmayeh Bank is headquartered in Tehran and the CEO is Gholamreza Hajizadeh. In 2008, the company’s net profit was 468 billion riyals and total assets were 12.04 trillion riyals.
