Extra is a German retail chain, headquartered in Cologne, with 9,700 employees. Since July 1, 2008, it has been owned by the REWE Group, a food industry company. The company’s predecessor was part of the Metro Group. Its products include: food , clothes, pottery, electrical equipment and toys.
The first store of Extra was founded in 1970 by Shaper-Group in Dylan. Initially, its branch network mainly covered Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. It has been a part of Metro Group since 1986.
