Uralmash is the heavy machinery production facility of the Russian engineering company OMZ. The plant is located in Yekaterinburg, Russia and employs approximately 16,500 employees. The surrounding residential area where the workers live is also called Uralmash.
In February 2007, OMZ and Metalloinvest agreed to establish a common manufacturing complex. OMZ sold its shares in Uralmash to a joint venture, while Metalloinvest held its shares in ORMETO-YuUMZ. The merger will result in the establishment of a large machinery manufacturing enterprise group in the CIS metallurgical equipment market, with a joint venture market share of more than 40% in the Russian metallurgical equipment field.
The first director of Uralmash was AP Bannikov. Oleg Danchenk has been the general manager since 2009. Danchenko and Uralmash-Engineering’s first vice president and director general Boris Belman resigned from the company in March 2016. The current director general of Uralmash is Sokolov Sergey Olegovich.
