First Ukrainian International Bank (FUIB) was established on November 20, 1991, and was registered with the National Bank of Ukraine on December 23, 1991. In April 1992, the bank began operations.
In 1995, the First International Bank of Ukraine cooperated with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and in 1996 with Deutsche Investment and Trade Co., Ltd.
In 1999, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Finance Corporation each held a 10% stake in the First International Bank of Ukraine. In 2000, Fortis Bank became the legal heir shareholder of Bank Mees & Hope NV.
Since 1996, the First International Bank of Ukraine has been a major member of the VISA International Payment System, a member of MasterCard International since 1993, and a regular participant of the Ukrainian National Retail Deposit Insurance Fund.
The First International Bank of Ukraine is headquartered in Kiev, Ukraine. Its chairman is Sergey Cherninko and has 3,899 employees. In 2011, the bank’s net income was US$56 million, total assets were US$3.7 billion, and total equity was US$505 million.
