Bulgaria Air (Bulgaria Air) is the national airline of Bulgaria, headquartered at Sofia Airport. It is controlled by Chimimport Inc. and is the leader in Bulgarian aviation market share. Bulgarian Airlines was established in 2002 and began operations on December 4 of the same year. In November 2002, it was announced as the Bulgarian national flag carrier by the Bulgarian Minister of Transport and Communications.
On November 20, 2008, Bulgaria Airlines became a full member of the International Air Transport Association. In mid-2011, Bulgarian Airlines announced that it would purchase seven new Embraer E-190 aircraft. The first aircraft will be delivered in early 2012, while the remaining aircraft will be delivered in 2013. In 2016, the company plans to lease the first Airbus A321 aircraft.
Bulgarian Airlines has a total of 13 aircraft and 26 destinations. The parent company is EAD, the Balkan Hams Group, and the CEO is Yanko Georgiev. In 2014, the company’s revenue was 192.4 million euros and net income was 400,000 euros.
