Billa is a European supermarket chain, the company originated in Austria, it has more than 1,000 supermarkets, its owner is the German REWE Group. The company name comes from the German ‘cheap store’. The company opened its first supermarket in Bulgaria in 2000. After that, the supermarket scale expanded to 35 cities in Bulgaria and operated 88 supermarkets. Several other supermarkets are under construction or planning.
Billa is owned by Reve Group, headquartered in Wiener Neudorf, Austria. In the 2012 fiscal year, the company’s revenue increased by 1.4 billion euros, with a total of 18,400 employees.
