The Elizabeth Arden Company was established on Fifth Avenue in 1910 as the Red Gate Salon. In 1971, Eli Lilly and Company acquired Arden for US$38 million. In 1987, Eli Lilly and Company sold Arden to Fabergé for US$655 million.
In 2003, Arden Cosmetics was acquired by Unilever for US$225 million. After the acquisition, Arden Cosmetics was renamed Elizabeth Arden and listed on the Nasdaq exchange under the stock code RDEN. The company is located in Miramar, Florida.
The chairman/president/CEO of Elizabeth Arden is E. Scott Beattie. In 2013, the company had revenue of US$1.344 billion, profit of US$40.7 million, and a total of 2,440 employees.
