Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri University of Science and Technology) is an American institution of higher learning located in Rolla, Missouri. It is part of the Missouri University System. In the fall of 2014, the university had approximately 8,642 freshmen enrolled in engineering, computing, mathematics and science.
Although known as the University of Engineering, Missouri University of Science and Technology also has humanities, social sciences, arts, sciences, and business majors. This university is a famous national engineering design competition university in the United States.
Missouri University of Science and Technology was established in 1870 as the Missouri University of Mining and Metallurgy. It was the first technical learning institution west of the Mississippi River. In the early history, the main majors of the University of Mining and Technology were concentrated in mining and metallurgy. The lead production in Rolla near Southeast Missouri accounts for about 70% of the lead production in the United States.
In June 2013, the Missouri University of Science and Technology Fund was $136 million. The principal is Cheryl B. Schrader, and the provost is Robert Marley.
