Buddha Air is a Nepalese airline headquartered in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur District. The airline mainly operates domestic and international business in Nepal and India. Since its establishment in 1997, it has become the largest domestic airline operator in Nepal.
Buddha Air was established on April 23, 1996 by a retired Supreme Court judge and former government minister Surendra Bahadur Basnet and his youngest son, a helicopter pilot, Shivendra Bahadur Basnet. Private limited company. On October 11, 1997, the company flew over Mount Everest with a brand new Beechcraft 1900D. In ten years, the company has 7 1900Ds aircraft.
In 2008, Buddha Air purchased two ATR42 aircraft with a loan from the International Finance Corporation. In June 2010, the company accepted the first 70-seater ATR72 aircraft. The name of the airline comes from Sanskrit’Buddha’.
