Issey Miyake is a Japanese fashion designer. It is most famous for his technology-driven fashion design, exhibition and perfume. He was born on April 22, 1938.
Issey Miyake was born on April 22, 1938 in Hiroshima, Japan. On August 6, 1945, at the age of seven, he witnessed the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and survived. In 1964, he graduated from the Graphic Design Department of Tokyo Tama Art University. After graduation, he worked in Paris and New York City.
In 1970, after Issey Miyake returned to Tokyo, he founded a high-end fashion women’s clothing production and design studio Issey Miyake. In the late 1980s, he began experimenting with a new method of pleating, which made customers more flexible and easier to care and produce.
Because Apple Steve Jobs and Issey Miyake are good friends, he designed a black turtleneck sweater for Steve Jobs, which became part of Jobs’s signature attire.
