Heydar Aliyev International Airport (Heydar Aliyev International Airport) is one of six international airports serving Azerbaijan. It was formerly known as Bina International Airport in Baku.
On March 10, 2004, the airport was named after Heydar Aliyev, the third president of Azerbaijan. Heydar Aliyev International Airport is located 20 kilometers northeast of Baku and is connected to modern highways. It was put into operation in 2008.
Heydar Aliyev International Airport is the busiest airport in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus, and serves as the main base for the flagship airline Azerbaijan Airlines and its subsidiary AZALJet, and the cargo company Silk Road Airlines.
Terminal 1 of Heydar Aliyev International Airport was put into operation in April 2014 and has 12 Airbus parking lots. The terminal is designed for 6 million passengers per year and currently can handle 3 million passengers per year.
