DailyMotion is a French video sharing website. Users can upload, share and watch videos. The company is headquartered in the 17th district, 140 Boulevard Malezebes, Paris, France. It is the second largest video sharing website in the world, second only to YouTube. As of November 2012, it is ranked 31st in the world, with more than 116 million unique visitors every month.
In March 2005, Benjamin Bejbaum and Olivier Poitrey created DailyMotion in the living room of a Paris apartment. At that time, six partners put out 6000 euros (approximately 9271 U.S. dollars) as start-up business funds. In September 2006, it raised 7 million euros in funding from Atlas Ventures and Partech International.
In October 2009, the French government invested a strategic investment fund in DailyMotion. On January 25, 2011, Orange, a subsidiary of France Telecom, acquired a 49% stake in the site for 6.2 billion euros. In November 2012, it had 165 employees.
