John Innes Centre (JIC) is an independent research and training center for plant and microbiological sciences in England, located in Norwich, England.
The John Innes Center is a charity jointly funded by the British Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, the European Research Council and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. It is also a member of the Norwich Research Park.
The John Innes Horticultural Society was established in Surrey Merton Park in 1910. Its funding came from a bequest from a businessman and philanthropist John Innis.
The John Inners Center is responsible for genome research, plant functions, some key microorganisms, key molecular pathways, plant disease genetics and cytological basis research.
