National Tyres and Autocare is an independent tire and auto parts retailer in the UK. The company is headquartered in Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. Now, the company is a subsidiary of Xianqiao Group Holdings Co., Ltd. The company is often referred to as’National Tyres’.
National Tyres and Autocare was established in August 1970 under the name of National Tyre Service Ltd. It gradually became a regional company in the UK and built the first national network of tire assembly centers in the UK. In 1985, the company was acquired by BTR plc. In December 2001, Axle Group Holdings acquired the company for 24 million pounds.
In August 2006, a fire broke out in the Leicester branch of National Tyres and Autocare, and the company was almost destroyed. Later, the branch was rebuilt and still operates today. In April 2010, the company announced that it would sell selected popular tire brands and models through eBay outlets.
National Tyres and Autocare is a member of the British Tire Distributors Association, the Tire Recycling Association and the British Safety Council. In October 2004, the company was awarded the’Tire Safety Industry Award’ by the Tire Industry Association. In 2000, the company sponsored the Suzuki Superbike Team of the British Superbike Championship.
National Tyres and Autocare has 216 stores, the CEO is Tony O’Neill, and the chairman is Alan Levy, with revenue of approximately £180 million. In October 2010, the company had 1,300 employees.
