Banca Intesa Beograd is one of the largest banks in Serbia, headquartered in Belgrade. The bank’s shareholders include Italy’s Intesa Sanpaolo (holding 93% of the shares) and the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank (jointly holding 7%).
Banca Intesa Beograd was founded in 1991 as Delta Bank. In February 2005, Banca Intesa acquired 75% of the bank’s shares for 278 million euros. By August of the same year, Banca Intesa increased its shares to 90%. After the majority share acquisition was completed, the Bank of Texas officially changed its name to Banca Intesa Beograd in the fall of 2005.
