Romanian Railways (Căile Ferate Romane) is Romania’s state-owned railway transportation company, headquartered in Bucharest, in Bucharest, Brasov, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Craiova, Galatia, Iasi and Timisoara has regional branches.
As of 2014, the Romanian railway network consists of 10,777 kilometers (6,697 miles), of which 4,029 kilometers (2,504 miles) (37.4%) have been electrified. The total length of the railway is 22,247 kilometers (13,824 miles), of which 8,585 kilometers (5334 miles) (38.5%) are electric.
The Romanian railway network is closely connected with other European railway networks and can provide pan-European passenger and freight services. It has been operating as an entity since 1880.

CFRCălători – responsible for passenger transport services
CFR Marfă – responsible for freight
CFR Infrastructură or CFR SA – management of infrastructure on the Romanian railway network
Societatea Feroviară de Turism – responsible for management of scenic spots and tourist railways.
