name: Hardland Glass Factory
Hadeland Glassverk is located in Jevnaker, north of Oppland, 40 kilometers north of Oslo, at the southern end of Lake Randsfjorden.
The Hardland Glass Factory was established in 1762 and belongs to the Mo Estate. Factory production began in 1765, when Norway did not have the necessary skilled artisans, these artisans were recruited from abroad (mainly Germany). At first, the factory produced bottles, medicine jars, medicine bottles and household glass items.
In 1852, Ole Chr. Berg was responsible for the management of the Hardland glass factory, after which the company developed rapidly. Production was redefined as being made using smaller crystals, including everything from wine glasses to bowls, dishes and vases. In the 19th century, the glass factory mainly copied the designs of other European countries and began to develop its own designs in the 1920s.
