Valmet Automotive customers include Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Ford, Saab, Opel and Fisker. Since 2009, Valmet Auto has mass-produced electric vehicles.

In 2012, Marussia Motors and Valmet Automotive announced an engineering and manufacturing agreement for the B2 sports car. In July 2012, Daimler AG and Valmet Automotive announced an agreement to produce more than 100,000 Mercedes-Benz A-Class cars at the Sinkaupunki plant in Finland. Production started in August 2013. In November 2015, the production contract for the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class was announced.

In the engineering field, Valmet Automotive focuses on electric vehicle solutions, such as battery packs and manufacturing engineering. The company also provides spare parts and complete vehicle projects.

In October 2018, German manufacturer BASF announced that it would build a car battery assembly plant only 80 kilometers away from Valmet Automotive’s car plant.
