Salt Spring Air is the only seaplane company in Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada. The company operates regular flights and charter services. The company’s travel headquarters is located in Ganges and it specializes in operating flights between the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island.

Subsequently, other seaplane companies appeared in Canada: West Coast Airlines, Seaport and SEAIR Seaplane Airlines. Salt Spring Air is one of the four major airlines operating at Vancouver Harbour Water Airport and Vancouver International Airport. The company also provides regular flights between the Gulf Islands and Vancouver International Airport.

In 1985, the founder of St. Claire McCall began to set up Saltspring to operate flights. In June 2003, St. Clair McCall established Salt Spring Air. It uses a four-seater Cessna 185 seaplane to provide local seaplane service to the Gulf Islands . Its services are mainly aimed at island residents and provide personalized services.

In 2004, Salt Spring Air introduced the De Havilland Beaver aircraft. Its fleet has 4 aircraft and 6 flights. Today, it is still the only airline on Salt Spring Island.

At first, Salt Spring Air used the Cessna 185 single-engine aircraft to operate. In 2004, the first Canadian De Havilland DHC-2 aircraft was introduced to the fleet. The ‘Beaver’ DHC-2 aircraft is a very famous aircraft model, operating more than 1,500 aircraft worldwide. Currently, the company operates a fleet of 4 De Havilland Beaver seaplanes. Now, the Beaver is the only aircraft model the company uses.
