Smosh is an online humorous short film website established by comedy partners Ian Hex (born November 30, 1987) and Anthony Padilla (born September 16, 1987). In early 2003, Anthony Padilla first released a Flash movie on Newgrounds under the pen name Smosh . Later, his friend Ian Hucks joined in.

In the fall of 2005, Ian Hecks and Anthony Padilla started posting videos to YouTube and became one of the most popular channels on YouTube. In March 2014, the Smosh channel had more than 1.7 million viewers and 3 billion video views. Its team has been expanded to include: with animation staff, launch of Spanish-language website and video game content.

Anthony Padilla established a website smosh in 2002 and launched some distinctive Flash animations. He said that its Smosh name came from an incident. Later, his friend Ian Hucks joined in to start a business.

Anthony Padilla and Ian Hex met in their sixth grade science class. After that, they became friends, and their common hobbies were comedy. In 2005, they registered a YouTube account and began to produce several lip-sync themed songs and videos, such as Mortal Kombat, Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. At first, these videos were not intended to be published online, but after they sent them to their friends, they started to set up their own channels on YouTube.

Smosh’s early video ‘Pokemon Theme Music Video’ was released in November 2005. This video is more popular than any other video. It received 24.7 million views and became the most viewed video on YouTube at the time.
