Kauai Airport (Lihue Airport) is a state-owned public airport located in Līhu’eCDP on the southeastern coast of Kauai on the island of Kuvey, two nautical miles east of the CDP center. It is not any airline hub, but provides many intra-island flights every day.
Kauai Airport covers an area of 915 acres (370 hectares) with an average altitude of 153 feet (47 meters). The airport has two asphalt-paved runways, 3/21 and 17/35, each of which is 6500 feet × 150 feet (1981 meters × 46 meters). The airport also has a 64-foot x 64-foot (20 x 20 meter) helipad.
During the 12-month period ending May 31, 2005, Kauai Airport had a total of 104,276 takeoffs and landings, an average of 285 takeoffs and landings per day: 48% were short-haul small passenger aircraft, 26% were commercial aviation, and 23% were general-purpose aircraft. Aviation and 2% are military.
