Aspen–Pitkin County Airport (Aspen–Pitkin County Airport) is a county-level public airport located three kilometers (6 kilometers) northwest of the downtown business district of Aspen, Pitkin County, Colorado.
Aspen-Pitkin County Airport covers an area of 573 acres (232 hectares) with an average elevation of 7,820 feet (2384 meters). The airport has an asphalted runway 15/33 with an area of 8006 feet x 100 feet (2440 meters x 30 meters).
During the 12-month period ending January 1, 2016, Aspen-Pitkin County Airport took off and landed 39,038 aircraft, an average of 107 takeoffs and landings per day: general aviation accounted for 52%, short-range passenger aircraft accounted for 23%, and commercial aircraft accounted for 26%, military accounted for 1%.
On April 4, 2011, Aspen-Pitkin County Airport launched a $15.5 million runway extension project to increase the existing 7,006-foot-long runway by 1,000 feet. The project was completed on November 2, 2011.
