name: Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is an image processing software launched by Adobe Systems for Windows and OS X platforms. The software was created by Thomas and John Knoll in 1988. Since then, the software has become an industry standard for image processing.
In addition to images, Photoshop can also edit or display text, vector graphics (especially through clipping paths), 3D graphics, and videos. Its feature set can be extended through Photoshop plug-ins.
In 1987, doctoral student Thomas Knoll started writing an Apple system program at the University of Michigan that can display grayscale images on a monochrome display. The project was called ‘Display’, and his brother, John Noll, an Industrial Light & Magic employee, suggested that Thomas change it to a full-fledged image editing program.
In 1988, Thomas and his brother John Knoll spent six months on vacation researching the project. Thomas renamed the program ImagePro, but the name has been used by others. Later that year, Thomas named the software Photoshop.
