Startup Weekend is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization headquartered in Seattle, Washington.

Entrepreneurship Weekend has grown into a global organization. As of April 2013, it has held 1,068 events, involving more than 100,000 entrepreneurs in more than 400 cities in more than 100 countries around the world, and has created more than 8,190 start-up companies. The Kaufman Foundation, Google and Microsoft are its sponsors.

Entrepreneurship Weekend was established in July 2007 by Andrew Hyde in Boulder, Colorado. It gathered 70 entrepreneurs to start the project in just 54 hours.
