Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU) is a Macau bank. In 2001, it merged with Caixa Geral de Depósitos and Macau controls the bank. The Macau Monetary Authority has approved the issuance of denominations of Macau patacas by two banks in Macau, one is Bank of China and the other is Banco Nacional SA.
In 1906, Atlantic Bank introduced the first pages of banknotes with denominations of 1, 5, 50 and 100 Australian dollars. The following year, it launched Australian dollar banknotes with denominations of 10 and 25.
Banco Nacional was founded in Lisbon, Portugal in 1864 and is headquartered in Macau. In 2013, it had 400 employees and its parent company is Caixa Geral de Depósitos.
