The Middle East News Agency (Middle East News Agency, MENA) is a news agency operated by the Egyptian government, headquartered in Cairo. The agency was established on December 15, 1955 as a stock company held by the Egyptian news agency, and began to provide services on February 28, 1956.
Mustafa Najib is one of the former heads of the Middle East News Agency. In July 2005, he was succeeded by Hassan Abdullah. In June 2014, Ala Haidar was appointed as the chief editor. In the 1990s, the agency cooperated with nearly 25 news organizations around the world. It provides services in three languages, namely Arabic, English and French.
