The National Bank of Oman (NBO) is the first local bank in Oman. It was established in 1973 and it mainly provides services to local businesses and the economy.
Today, the National Bank of Oman is one of the largest banks in Oman, with 110.8 million rials (US$288 million) in paid-in capital and 377.8 million rials (US$981 million) in regulatory capital. It has more than 60 branches, 173 ATMs, and 3 branches overseas-one in Egypt, one in Dubai, and one in Abu Dhabi.
In 2013, the National Bank of Oman obtained a comprehensive banking license. It began to provide regular and Islamic financial services in Dubai and was the only bank in Oman that was allowed to operate in Dubai.
